Our Charity Work

KSAR Cheque Presentation

Kent Search & Rescue is a member unit of The Association of Lowland Search and Rescue(ALSAR). ALSAR is a charitable organisation dedicated to assisting the emergency services in the search for missing persons. ALSAR’s national role is to coordinate adequate arrangements for Search & Rescue services in the Lowland areas of the United Kingdom.

At a local level Kent Search and Rescue have established excellent liaison links with the Kent Police Authority, Kent Ambulance Service, Kent Fire Service and HM Coastguard, and we are now registered with the Kent Voluntary Sector Emergency Group (KVSEG) and included in the MEP. Our members are spread right across Kent, giving us the broadest level of cover across the county, although we are always looking to recruit more volunteers as Kent is a large county and local knowledge can be extremely helpful for a successful search.

kabOur nominated charity for 2014 was the Kent Association for the Blind.

They a registered charity providing comprehensive support services for people with sight impairments in Kent, Medway and Bromley. They have six rehabilitation teams around the region and three Sight Centres. They provide free, specialist support for children and adults, including those who have learning disabilities and those who are deafblind. This support enables people to be independent and to exercise choice and control over their lives. This is achieved by tailoring their services to people’s needs: no two people’s needs are the same, so each person’s rehabilitation programme must take into account their unique requirements.

Our supporters make all this possible and we can only deliver services of the highest quality because of them. Without their generosity our work could not continue.”

pilgrimshitw_logowisdomOur nominated charity for 2013 was split between a number of local hospices. The Hospice in the Weald, Tunbridge Wells,  The Wisdom Hospice at Rochester and The Pilgrims Hospice at Canterbury. They all carry out excellent work around the county and it was decided that we would support 3 hospices across the county rather than in one geographic location.
